In addition to routine psychological testing of applicants and special
duty personnel, many agencies utilize the LESI® Executive Assessment
process when considering applicants for important command and executive
positions. The LESI® Executive Assessment, an in-depth profile of
executive style and ability, is often used as a tool for making key personnel
appointments. LESI® Executive Assessments are available for the following
job classifications:
- First line supervisor (initial promotion)
- Incumbent executive (promotion from supervision to higher ranks)
The process includes an in-depth interview with a LESI® professional,
experienced in both law enforcement and executive assessment. The interview
findings are combined with the results of a battery of psychological tests.
The resultant document addresses the following attributes of executive
performance:
- Intellectual (problem solving) ability
- Emotional characteristics
- Skill in human relations
- Insight into human behavior
- Ability to plan, organize and direct
This information is summarized and recommendations are made for further
development LESI® consultants will also conduct Executive Assessments
in conjunction with external selection processes (e.g. selection of Chief
Executives). In these cases, the profile may be combined with services
associated with LESI® Custom Research Services.
